## Description

1000 Books B4 K is a Nevada-based nonprofit public charity that operates the nationwide 1000 Books Before Kindergarten early literacy challenge. Their mission is to promote early literacy and help children develop strong reading skills before starting kindergarten. The concept is simple yet effective: parents and caregivers read books to their newborns, infants, and toddlers, aiming to read 1,000 books before their little ones enter kindergarten. The 1000 Books Foundation provides valuable resources, information, and support to parents and caregivers. They also enable libraries, schools, churches, and other nonprofit organizations to host their own 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenges in their local communities. To track progress, parents and caregivers can use log sheets, journals, or the convenient iPhone and Android App provided by the foundation. By participating in this challenge, they not only foster early literacy skills but also give young children the confidence to become successful readers throughout their lives. In addition to the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge, the foundation sponsors #TheBigRead, an annual event promoting reading a single book. They also maintain an active social community on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. For communities not currently offering the challenge, all necessary materials for free, including log sheets, milestone markers, and a certificate of completion, are available on the foundation's website. Everyone is encouraged to join the online community and participate in this beneficial and rewarding program.
