## Description

The Comédie du Livre is a literary festival held in Montpellier, France, bringing together writers, publishers, readers and artists for an ambitious programme of events. Its 41st edition is scheduled for 15–24 May 2026. Each year, the festival explores literature through major themes, including a carte blanche entrusted to a writer, featured publishing houses, European and international writing, children’s literature and comic books.

The programme offers author interviews, public conversations, readings, literary walks, workshops, performances, concerts and film screenings. Events take place at venues across Montpellier and beyond, including libraries, bookshops, cultural institutions and partner locations in nearby towns. The festival welcomes established and emerging authors, illustrators, translators and other creative voices, with activities for both adult and young audiences. Its offerings include children’s readings and creative workshops, radio interviews, musical readings, botanical walks and special evening events. By connecting literature with visual arts, music, cinema and public discussion, the Comédie du Livre creates varied opportunities to discover books, meet their creators and engage with ideas from France and around the world.
