## Description

The 1863 Club is a registered charity that helps boys and girls at state schools learn to row and compete at national level. Working closely with partners, the club provides a rowing programme designed to help young people stay competitive, build teamwork, improve fitness and enjoy the sport. Its junior programme includes J14 and J15 squads, alongside a senior squad, and the club supports participation in events such as the National Schools Regatta. The 1863 Club also offers adult Learn to Row opportunities and provides information and kit for its rowers and their families.

The programme is funded in part by monthly donations from club members, with additional fundraising needed to meet its remaining costs. The 1863 Support Group has raised money over the years to purchase boats and equipment and continues to run fundraising projects. The club also provides resources for alumni and rowers’ parents, and shares information about its activities, policies and ways to support its work.
