## Description

Blockchain 1961 is a financial infrastructure project developing a blockchain for institutional settlement and the programmable economy. Its stated focus is irrevocable transactions, auditable contracts, verifiable identity, and support for real-world assets. The platform is built in Rust, which the company says helps protect against classes of software vulnerabilities, and uses an account-based architecture designed for parallel transaction processing. It also incorporates triple-entry accounting, recording transactions as cryptographic audit proofs.

Blockchain 1961 presents its services as infrastructure rather than consumer-facing financial products. Its applications include connecting paper-based assets with programmable systems and portable KYC through verifiable NFT identities. The network uses a combination of BFT and proof-of-stake consensus and provides validator and explorer tools. According to the site, the network is currently in a restricted testnet phase, with public mainnet launch planned for Q4 2026. It reports four active validators, 405 transactions per second, and sub-second finality; these figures are presented as project metrics. The site also references TREA compliance, security audits, and documentation for institutional users.
