## Description

The One Million Community Health Workers (1mCHW) Campaign is a collaborative initiative founded in January 2013, backed by over 150 partner organizations, including entities from the United Nations, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Hosted by the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, this campaign aims to bolster the number and quality of Community Health Workers (CHWs) across Africa, a critical need given the existing gap in access to quality healthcare.

The campaign promotes the formal recognition of CHWs as essential components of health systems, offering technical assistance to governments looking to enhance their CHW programs. It advocates for financial support from global funding organizations while encouraging countries to mobilize resources sustainably. By focusing on an equity-driven approach, the campaign seeks to reduce health disparities, thereby enhancing economic development and educational outcomes, and promoting social justice. Committed to making health a fundamental human right, the 1mCHW Campaign strives to empower communities by fostering healthier populations.
