Formerly known as the Briggs and Stratton 206 Cup Series, CKNA was founded to bridge the gap between club level events and larger regional and national series, making racing more accessible and affordable for all. With normalized rules in place, CKNA offers an opportunity for racers from across the country to compete in the most competitive 4-cycle series available.

CKNA's inaugural 2014 season saw unprecedented success, boasting the highest kart counts in the Midwest. Building on this popularity, CKNA expanded its reach in 2017, adding a second series with a National-style Runoffs event to determine overall Grand Champions. In 2018, Cup Karts North America became the governing body for all events throughout North America, with the 2019 season bringing the merger of the Central and North Divisions into one larger series to increase competition and offer larger fields at each event.
