## Description

Association 24 August 1944 is a French organisation dedicated to preserving and sharing the historical memory of the Liberation of Paris in 1944, with particular attention to the Spanish antifascists who served in the 2nd Armoured Division, including La Nueve. Its work places their contribution within the wider history of the struggle that began in Spain in 1936 and continued across Europe and Africa, in the French resistance and, for many, in opposition to Francoism into the 1960s.

The association researches and presents this history through exhibitions, conferences, discussions, screenings, educational activities and commemorative and cultural events. It also produces and shares films, publishes historical documents and provides resources including books, comics, audio, radio, video and articles. Its website offers a chronology, historical material on Spain and exile, accounts of La Nueve and the 2nd Armoured Division, and personal testimonies about the people involved. Through these activities and resources, Association 24 August 1944 helps make this history accessible and sustains public remembrance of the diverse experiences behind the fight against fascism.
