## Description

3MF Consortium is dedicated to incorporating the 3MF open-source specification into every additive manufacturing and 3D printing tool. Their mission is to tackle the data interoperability challenges faced by the 3D printing industry by ensuring that all providers and end users of 3D printing products and services fully adopt the 3MF data formats. This commitment guarantees reliable and transparent data exchange. The 3MF file format revolutionizes 3D printing by allowing creators to specify size, shape, colors, materials, and more with ease. This format has the potential to do for 3D what PDF did for 2D printing, according to technology journalist John Hauer. By using 3MF, the entire industry is uplifted, promoting innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is possible, as highlighted by Paolo Guglielmini, President of Manufacturing Intelligence Division at Hexagon. Founded in 2015, the 3MF Consortium is comprised of 21 members representing the core of the 3D printing and 3D CAD industry. The consortium's core specification makes development easy and encourages quick validation. Furthermore, they prioritize simplicity, extensibility, and unambiguous language to ensure consistency from digital to physical outputs. As a Joint Development Foundation project, the 3MF Consortium operates under the umbrella of the non-profit organization, providing the necessary infrastructure to establish and operate standards and source code development collaborations. Subscribe to the 3MF Newsletter to stay updated on upcoming webinars, events, news, and research in the additive manufacturing industry. Join the movement and embrace the future of 3D printing with the 3MF Consortium.
