## Description

The 482nd Bombardment Group (P) is a dedicated tribute to the courageous air and ground crews who played a pivotal role in World War II as part of the 8th Army Air Force. Notably recognized for their successful bombing mission over Berlin on March 4, 1944, the group was the first to deploy B-17 bombers in this critical operation, showcasing their innovative use of radar technology. This distinguished unit specialized in the Bomb Through Overcast (BTO) mission, employing operational radars, H2S "Stinky" and H2X "Mickey," which were essential in strategic bombing campaigns against Nazi Germany.

The 482nd Bomb Group also gained acclaim for utilizing both the B-17 and B-24 aircraft across its three operational squadrons, the 812th, 813th, and 814th Bomb Squadrons. Their efforts not only contributed significantly to the war effort but also helped refine new bombing techniques, ensuring future bomb groups could effectively carry out their missions. This website honors the legacy of these brave servicemen and preserves their remarkable history.
