The 48 Hour Film Project is an exciting and creative competition that brings together filmmakers from around the world to make short fiction films in just 48 hours. With events in over 100 cities globally, this wild and sleepless weekend challenges teams to create the best film using specific genre, prop, character, and line elements. Once completed, the films are premiered at local cinemas, providing a thrilling experience for both the filmmakers and the audience. During the competition, teams draw genres and receive required elements for their films at the Friday night Kickoff event. From there, it's a race against time as they write, shoot, and edit their masterpieces to be submitted by Sunday night. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, the 48 Hour Film Project welcomes all levels of filmmakers. The grand winner in each city gets the chance to showcase their film at Filmapalooza, an international film festival featuring screenings, workshops, and parties. Additionally, the project has a prestigious 17-year partnership with the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, where a selection of top films gets to be screened. With over 70,000 films made for the 48HFP over the years, this global event has proven to be a platform for creativity, passion, and cinematic excellence.
