The Data Driven Dairy Decisions for Farmers (4D4F) is a thematic network that focuses on utilizing dairy animal and environmental sensors to gather real-time information for more informed decision-making in dairy farming. The network establishes a Community of Practice (COP) consisting of farmers, farm advisors, technology suppliers, veterinarians, and researchers. This diverse group collaborates to discuss, collect, and co-create best practices in data and sensor technology.

Farmers can access these best practices through user-friendly guides, supported by videos, infographics, and an online virtual warehouse of dairy sensor technologies. The network also develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that can be customized for individual farms, helping farmers and advisors adopt sensor and data analysis technology. To facilitate the adoption of data-driven decision-making, the network organizes on-farm events and workshops where farmers can engage in peer-to-peer discussions about sensor usage.

The 4D4F network works closely with EIP Agri and existing Operational Groups, and collaborates with local partners to establish new groups where needed. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program
