5G Transatlantic Lab is an annual innovation lab organized by Future Innovation Lab, in collaboration with Garage Stories and the Mobile World Capital Barcelona. This lab focuses on exploring the potential of emerging technologies to build use cases for good. The goal is to shape technology for a better tomorrow by fostering connections between creatives and technologists from around the world.

The lab offers a platform for participants to generate innovative ideas that are later implemented with the support of a network of worldwide partners. The lab features various challenges, such as Hack the Hospital and Hack the Planet, which aim to address important societal issues. In the Hack the Hospital challenge, the lab seeks to reduce the negative impact of long-term pediatric patients' experience in hospitals, making their stay more enjoyable and less traumatic.

The winning projects from this challenge, including Squishy and Boost Board, are currently being developed at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (Barcelona) and Boston Children's Hospital. Another challenge, Hack the Planet, focuses on helping society adapt their lifestyle and consumption patterns to improve human health and take better care of the planet. The winning project, Viridis, is a blockchain-based Digital Product Passport that rewards consumers for making sustainable consumption decisions.

The lab also organizes masterclasses and virtual live sessions with experts to inspire and prepare participants for the hackathon weekends. Participants, ranging from creatives to technologists, work remotely and receive guidance from international mentors. With a humanistic approach, 5G Transatlantic Lab aims to explore the potential of emerging technologies, such as XR, AI, and 5G, to develop innovative and feasible ideas that have a clear value proposition.
