9Miles Project is a registered non-profit organization that was founded in Cape Town in 2013. This inspiring project works with at-risk youth in coastal informal settlements, such as Cape Town, Elands Bay, and St Francis Bay. The aim is to provide mentorship and support to young individuals who lack positive role models in their lives.

Motivated by a love for surfing and the positive impact it had on his own life, Nigel Savel, along with his wife Sher’Neil, started the project with the vision of improving their crime and drug-affected community. The project combines surfing, life skills education, and mentorship to help develop lasting character, enhance self-worth, and cultivate a goal-oriented mindset. 9Miles Project offers supplementary education, literacy classes, learning adventures, and leadership training to empower and uplift impoverished and high-risk youth from coastal informal settlements and communities.
