## Description

9th Ward Stadium, Inc. is a New Orleans nonprofit organization working to create a modern, multi-use athletic facility in the Upper 9th Ward/Desire community. Its mission is rooted in expanding access to quality sports space for local students while strengthening community connection, wellness, heritage, and neighborhood pride. The planned stadium will provide an artificial-turf field for football and soccer, with a grandstand seating 3,700 spectators, press box, scoreboard, restrooms, concessions, ticketing, parking, and site amenities. It is intended to serve as the home field for George Washington Carver High School and to welcome other public high schools and middle schools, particularly in eastern New Orleans. The first phase focuses on football and soccer; the organization plans to raise additional funds for an adjacent track and field complex. The project has secured $15.8 million through public and private funding sources. Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is the official stadium partner, and LCMC Health holds naming rights to the playing surface. The facility will be governed by New Orleans Public Schools.
