## Description

Amateur Astronomers Association, Inc. (AAA) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1927 to promote the study and public awareness of the cosmos. Based in New York, it brings together amateur astronomers and astrophotographers and welcomes the public to explore the night sky through observing, education, and community programs. AAA hosts free stargazing events at locations across the New York area, where visitors can view stars and planets through members’ telescopes. Its educational offerings include free lectures, in-depth astronomy classes, observing opportunities, and resources for learning about the sky and using optical equipment. The association also supports astrophotography, youth initiatives, and public outreach, and provides access to a Gateway remote telescope, telescope borrowing programs, and library telescope services. Members can participate in dedicated events and programs, access recorded lectures, and read Eyepiece, the organization’s magazine. AAA shares astronomy news and updates through its podcast, newsletter, and online resources. Membership, donations, and merchandise purchases help sustain its volunteer-led programming and make astronomy activities available to the public.
