## Description

Amigos do Atletismo de Mafra (AAMafra) is a nonprofit association based in Mafra, Portugal, founded in 1975. Its purpose is to encourage physical activity, healthier lifestyles, and wider participation in sport among the community. The association offers several ways to get involved, from structured training to open and recreational activities.

Its Athletics School, established in 2016, serves more than 40 federated children and young people, alongside others who train weekly to prepare for physical examinations. The athletics team brings together athletes and takes part in a range of competitions. AAMafra also has a trail-running team, formed by athletes drawn to the growing sport, and “Mafra a Correr,” an open training initiative launched in 2014 for anyone who wants to join a run.

The club’s activities include recreational events that combine sport and social connection. It also presents orienteering as an outdoor activity involving navigation and physical exercise, although the section is currently inactive. AAMafra invites people to become members and participate in its sporting community.
