## Description

Amateur Astronomy Picture of the Day (AAPOD2) is a dedicated online platform and social media presence aimed at showcasing and archiving exceptional amateur astronomy images. Established by passionate amateur astronomers Jason Matter and Charles Lillo, AAPOD2 honors a new winner daily, providing a vibrant space for showcasing the universe through the lens of enthusiastic photographers. The site features a comprehensive image archive, allowing users to explore winning images from previous years, and encourages submissions from amateur astronomers keen to share their work.

Beyond its commitment to photography, AAPOD2 fosters a sense of community among astronomy enthusiasts, providing a blog and resources for the sharing of experiences and knowledge. The founders, who also serve on the Board of Directors for the South Florida Amateur Astronomers Association, are deeply invested in promoting astronomy as a hobby. While AAPOD2 does not endorse commercial products or claims, it stands as a testament to the creativity and dedication of amateur astronomers worldwide.
