## Description

The AAPPMA de la Nive is an approved association dedicated to recreational fishing and the protection of aquatic environments in the Nive area of the French Basque Country. Based in Louhossoa, it works to safeguard, protect and restore biodiversity while supporting responsible access to local rivers and fishing waters. The association provides information about fishing routes on both public and private waters, river levels and applicable regulations, helping anglers plan their visits and understand local requirements.

Anglers fishing its waters must carry a valid, personal fishing permit for the current year. Permits can be purchased through local outlets, including the association’s premises in Louhossoa, Decathlon in Anglet and Vival in Larressore, or online at cartedepeche.fr. The AAPPMA also offers activities and educational initiatives through its fishing nature workshop, fly-fishing club and outreach programmes. Its work includes environmental monitoring and river surveillance, supported by gamekeepers, as well as community events and updates on conservation issues. The association encourages people to report suspected pollution or poaching promptly.
