## Description

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) is a professional organization founded in 1943. It says its mission is to uphold the ethical principles of the Oath of Hippocrates and preserve the patient-physician relationship and private medical practice. The organization serves physicians through membership, educational resources, policy statements, advocacy, and events, including its annual meeting.

AAPS publishes the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons and AAPS News, and shares alerts, press releases, legal updates, and commentary on medical ethics, health policy, and practice issues. Its resources include guidance for starting a cash-based practice, opting out of Medicare, price transparency, and independent medical practice. Patients can use its directory to find or list an independent practice, and the site also provides information on home-based COVID-19 treatment.

The organization offers several ways to support its work, including donations to AAPS and its educational and legal foundations. Physicians can join or renew membership, subscribe to newsletters, and access information about careers, events, and professional resources.
