## Description

Associação Académica de São Mamede (AASM) is a Portuguese sports association founded on 1 December 1946 by students in São Mamede de Infesta. Guided by the motto “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano,” the club promotes sport and community participation. Its sporting history began with football, which was played informally before the club developed its established disciplines. Volleyball gained prominence in the 1950s, followed by handball, and triathlon later became a key section. Today, AASM offers handball, triathlon and volleyball, alongside an academy and karate activities. Its volleyball, handball and triathlon teams have earned regional and national titles, and the club has had more than 100 international athletes. AASM also provides sports programmes for young people, including summer campus experiences focused on multisport, volleyball, gymnastics, beach volleyball and physical training. The association supports communication with members and athletes through a planned app, and shares club information, reports and announcements. Based at Pavilhão Eduardo Soares, AASM serves its local sporting community in São Mamede de Infesta.
