## Description

ABC OdV Catania, also known as Associazione Bambini in Crescita, is a volunteer organization founded in 2006 by parents whose experiences in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) inspired them to support premature babies and their families. Based in the Catania area of Sicily, the association promotes cooperation among hospitals, healthcare professionals and parents, and advocates for the rights of children born prematurely.

Its projects offer practical and emotional support during hospitalization and beyond. Trained volunteers support parents with gentle, affectionate touch and breastfeeding, while parent pairs provide a listening ear to families with babies in the NICU. Other initiatives include osteopathy support and reading activities for hospitalized premature infants and their parents. ABC also shares educational resources on neonatal wrapping, returning home with a premature baby, safe sleep and NICU visiting rules.

Through community activities and awareness events, ABC works to strengthen support for local neonatal units and families.
