## Description

The Australian Breast Device Registry (ABDR) is a pioneering health initiative led by Monash University and funded by the Commonwealth Government. This comprehensive registry plays a crucial role in monitoring the long-term safety and effectiveness of breast devices, including implants, tissue expanders, and acellular dermal matrices used in cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries.

The ABDR systematically collects health data to identify potential trends, complications, and quality of care associated with breast device procedures. It operates as an opt-out registry, ensuring robust data representation while providing valuable insights to healthcare professionals and stakeholders, including the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the Department of Health.

In addition to fostering transparency and communication regarding device safety, the ABDR publishes detailed reports on device failure rates, complications, and surgical outcomes. Through patient-led initiatives like the Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), the registry aims to continuously improve patient care and outcomes. Overall, the ABDR is instrumental in enhancing the safety and quality of breast device surgery in Australia.
