## Description

Aberdeen Gun Club is a recreational shooting organization in Aberdeen, South Dakota, established in 1980 by local trap shooters seeking to preserve the sport in the area. Its current grounds were purchased in 1983, and the clubhouse was built in 1986 through funds raised by club members and supporters. The facility offers 13 trap houses with automatic machines and voice-pull operation, two skeet fields, and a five-stand sporting clays field.

The club welcomes public participation, and membership is not required to shoot. Individual, family, and youth memberships are available, with discounted shooting for young participants. Membership dues help improve the grounds and keep shooting costs low. The trap range generally operates from mid-April through September, weather permitting, and the club offers adult, doubles, youth, and skeet leagues, as well as opportunities for practice and make-up shooting.

Affiliated with the Amateur Trapshooting Association, Aberdeen Gun Club hosts registered summer competitions and periodically holds regional, state, and central zone shoots. The organization also promotes firearms safety education and accessible recreational shooting.
