## Description

Aber Kawas is a dedicated community organizer and democratic socialist running for the New York State Senate in District 12, which encompasses the vibrant neighborhoods of Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, and Maspeth. As the daughter of Palestinian refugees and raised in a working-class family, her life experiences have shaped her commitment to advocating for the rights of working families and immigrants. With over 15 years of activism, Aber has been at the forefront of critical issues, including the Fight for 15 to increase the minimum wage, immigration reform, and initiatives to counter police surveillance.

Kawas’s campaign focuses on progressive policies aimed at improving affordability, enhancing public transportation, and protecting the rights of immigrants. She aims to build a just and equitable future by supporting working-class communities, promoting clean energy, and ensuring public safety through dignity rather than oppression. Empowered by grassroots support, Aber Kawas is determined to foster an inclusive movement that prioritizes the needs of the people over corporate interests in her district.
