## Description

The Associação de Basquetebol da Madeira (ABM) is the regional body responsible for overseeing basketball in Madeira, under the authority of the Portuguese Basketball Federation. Founded on 16 December 1977 and based in Funchal, the association supports the sport across the autonomous region by coordinating competitions, development programmes, training and basketball activities.

ABM’s work spans regional leagues for youth and senior players, including boys’ and girls’ divisions, as well as 3x3 basketball and regional team selections. Its programmes include a training centre, under-23 basketball, minibasketball and school initiatives such as 3x3 nas Escolas and Magia do 1.º Cesto. The association also provides development and support for athletes, coaches and referees, and organises events, tournaments and educational activities.

Through its institutional structure, club network and partnerships, ABM promotes participation and the continued growth of basketball in Madeira. Its website shares news, schedules, regulations, forms, event information, photographs and videos, helping players, clubs, officials and the wider community stay connected with the regional game.
