The ABMRF/The Foundation for Alcohol Research is a premier private foundation dedicated to fostering and communicating research on the effects of alcohol on health and behavior. Our mission is to achieve a better understanding of alcohol's impact on individuals, provide a scientific basis for prevention and treatment of alcohol misuse and alcoholism, fund innovative and high-quality research, support promising new investigators, and communicate information with the research community and other interested parties. For over 30 years, we have funded research grants and supported research-related activities through scientific meetings, professional conferences, and symposia on specialized topics.

Our contributions have resulted in over 575 young investigators supported and over $50 million awarded to alcohol research. These funds primarily support projects targeting drinking patterns, the effects of moderate consumption, mechanisms underlying alcohol's effects, and the etiology of alcohol misuse. Additionally, we have sponsored numerous scientific meetings, allowing researchers, clinicians, and students to exchange new findings and discuss the current state of knowledge in various areas of alcohol research.
