## Description

The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of genetic counseling. Genetic counselors play a crucial role in healthcare, providing specialized expertise to individuals and families navigating the complexities of genetic information. They are skilled in prenatal, pediatric, oncology, and neurology genetics, among other specialties, and can assist in interpreting genetic test results and assessing personal and family medical histories.

NSGC supports both professionals and patients through various resources, including referral services for finding genetic counselors and educational materials on genetic testing. They offer guidance on understanding genetic risks associated with various health conditions, such as cancer and heart disease, helping individuals make informed choices about their healthcare.

Additionally, many genetic counselors utilize telehealth services, making access to their expertise more convenient. With a focus on education, research, and emotional support, NSGC promotes the importance of genetic counseling in modern healthcare and empowers individuals to manage their genetic health effectively.
