## Description

Abrasco, the Brazilian Association of Collective Health, has worked since 1979 to strengthen and promote collective health in Brazil. The organization brings together professionals, researchers, educators, managers, and others committed to health as a social and democratic right. Its work includes supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education, strengthening teaching institutions, and encouraging research that advances the field’s knowledge and practices. Abrasco also promotes the exchange of expertise through congresses, symposia, and other events, and develops or supports scientific publications and books, available through its specialized bookshop.

A central part of its mission is defending and strengthening Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS). Abrasco advocates for public policies that respond to people’s needs and participates in national and international forums on health, education, science, and technology. It also connects health workers, researchers, managers, public services, government institutions, social movements, and civil society organizations. Members can engage through thematic groups, committees, forums, and initiatives. The association shares information through news, public statements, a newsletter, online videos, and a fortnightly podcast.
