## Description

Academia Bohemica is an independent philosophical school dedicated to critical, carefully reasoned inquiry. Based in the Czech Republic, it challenges prevailing approaches to philosophy, examining assumptions, methods and popular positions rather than relying on established authority, fashionable ideas or consensus. Its central standard is the quality of an argument, supported by logical analysis and thorough questioning.

The school offers nine self-contained online courses spanning systematic philosophy, from theory of knowledge and anthropology to ethics, ontology and the philosophy of God. Additional courses explore subjects including Parmenides, the history of philosophy and philosophical logic. Its publications include a five-volume course in systematic philosophy, introductory textbooks and books addressing ethical, political and social questions. These works consider topics such as truth, human nature, moral relativism and contemporary ideologies.

Academia Bohemica also provides audio and video lectures and publishes Distance, a review featuring philosophical, theological and sociopolitical writing. Formerly a print quarterly published from 2001 to 2024, Distance now appears occasionally in digital form.
