## Description

Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia, or the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, is a multidisciplinary learned society founded in 1908. Its mission is to advance scientific research and connect researchers who represent high-quality scholarship. The Academy invites distinguished Finnish and international scholars to become members; membership is lifelong and recognized as a significant achievement in a research career.

The organization supports Finnish science through grants and awards, distributing more than €2.5 million annually, with much of its funding intended for early-career researchers. It also promotes decision-making based on research and contributes to discussions on science and researchers through initiatives and formal statements. Its activities include organizing public events and academic discussions, publishing scientific works, and sharing recordings and news about research. Topics featured in its events range across fields such as medicine, history, philosophy, and science policy. Through its membership, funding, publications, and outreach, Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia brings researchers and the wider public closer to science and its role in society.
