## Description

ACBE Grand Sud is an association working to improve mobility and safety for people who are blind or visually impaired. Based in Toulouse, it brings together volunteers, partners, donors and businesses around practical support that helps users travel more confidently indoors and outdoors. Its aim is to reduce the risks encountered during movement by equipping or supplementing a traditional white cane with electronic assistance.

The association’s Tom Pouce electronic white cane combines a conventional cane with a French-developed high-tech unit. Using laser and infrared beams, it detects obstacles at ground level and above, then communicates their proximity through vibrations that grow stronger as danger gets closer. Minitact is a related device designed to support indoor mobility.

ACBE Grand Sud also shares documentary resources, provides information about its equipment and related procedures, and welcomes volunteers and organizational partners. It raises funds and promotes awareness of visual disability and accessibility through activities, events and outreach. Donations help it equip more people and extend the reach of its work.
