## Description

The National Center to Accelerate Cures (NCAC) is a collaborative initiative formed by three nonprofit organizations to help advance New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). These emerging tools, including tests using chips lined with living human cells and computer models of the body’s response to drugs, offer researchers ways to study human biology more directly. NCAC focuses on addressing the laboratory infrastructure and regulatory expertise gaps that can prevent developers from pursuing regulatory acceptance.

The organization aims to support more effective evaluation of potential treatments in a field where many drug candidates fail before reaching patients. Its planned work includes validating NAMs in high-priority areas and producing evidence developers can bring to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). NCAC also plans to publish a shared terminology framework to help stakeholders communicate consistently and release an open data standard intended to support consistent FDA review of NAM submissions. Through collaboration and shared resources, NCAC seeks to make regulatory support more accessible and help accelerate the use of NAMs in developing cures.
