ACCESS is a brand committed to addressing the challenges faced by homeless women and children in the community. Their mission revolves around promoting self-esteem and self-sufficiency through a holistic and supportive environment. In line with this, ACCESS offers various programs and services, including emergency shelter services, housing assistance, advocacy, and empowerment initiatives.

The organization's journey began as a grassroots effort in 1983, driven by the need for improved services in Akron, Ohio. It was established due to a significant gap in available emergency shelter beds compared to the demand in the area. Since its inception, ACCESS has grown and expanded its offerings.

In 1996, they moved to a larger facility, increasing shelter availability by 43%. They also introduced a transitional housing program, Step II, in 1997. ACCESS is guided by core values that include Housing First and Trauma-Informed Care, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as being an Adaptive Steward of Resources.
