About
Description
Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing accessible, affordable housing, property management, and supportive living services since its founding in 1978. At that time, there were very limited housing options for adults with disabilities, resulting in many individuals being placed in nursing homes.
ASI introduced an alternative approach, allowing people to live independently in their own accessible and affordable cooperative homes or apartments while accessing the necessary supportive services. ASI's innovative model enables consumers to share service hours, ensuring that supportive assistance is available around the clock, every day of the year. What started with five cooperative homes in Minnesota, housing 30 consumers, has now expanded to a nationwide organization with 141 residential homes and apartment settings in 31 states.
They currently serve over 3,000 adults with physical disabilities and brain injuries, as well as seniors. The mission of Accessible Space is to provide housing with care for persons with physical disabilities, brain injuries, seniors, and veterans. They achieve this by developing, managing, and owning accessible, affordable housing, as well as offering supportive care, customized living, and rehabilitation services.
With a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, Accessible Space continues to address the growing need for supportive housing and assisted living options
