Accion is a global nonprofit organization that is dedicated to creating a financially inclusive world. With a pioneering legacy in microfinance and fintech impact investing, Accion has been at the forefront of providing access to financial services for underserved communities. Founded in 1961 by a UC Berkeley law student, Accion initially focused on hands-on work in Latin America.

By the early 1970s, they began issuing small loans to address the lack of economic opportunity in Latin American cities. Over the next few decades, Accion expanded its reach, starting microfinance programs in 14 countries in Latin America with an impressive loan repayment rate of 97 percent. In the 2000s, Accion extended its operations to India, Sub-Saharan Africa, and established the Center for Financial Inclusion.

They also launched the Accion Venture Lab and participated in the launch of the Accion Frontier Inclusion Fund, demonstrating their commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.
