As a non-partisan and non-profit organization, the ACLU of Illinois, along with its affiliated Roger Baldwin Foundation (RBF), is dedicated to safeguarding the liberties granted by the U. S.


Constitution, the state Constitution, and state/federal human rights laws. Through litigation, lobbying, and public education, the ACLU of Illinois achieves its objectives across a wide range of civil liberties issues. The RBF, established in 1969, has expanded the organization's capacity to pursue impactful litigation and educational programs by providing tax-deductible support.
