About

Description

ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) Canada is a dynamic and powerful community union focused on social and economic justice for low- and moderate-income individuals. With over 140,000 members organized into twenty-four neighborhood chapters across nine Canadian cities, ACORN believes in building community power for change. ACORN members take direct action against landlords and corporations, fighting for their rights and advocating for new and improved laws to protect them.

Every member holds a vote and has a voice in setting policies and determining tactics. Our local and national boards are elected directly from our membership, ensuring democratic decision-making. Since 2004, ACORN has achieved significant victories, including payday lending legislation, raises in the minimum wage, housing rights by-laws, and affordable internet programs.

We have a long history of organizing in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, utilizing various means such as doorknocking, petitioning, and peaceful direct actions to build power and create change. With three levels of membership, ACORN welcomes all individuals who share our vision of a fair world. Join ACORN today and become part of a dedicated community committed to fighting back and making a difference.
