## Description

ACS Brazosport is the local section of the American Chemical Society serving the Southern Houston and Brazoria County community. Established in 1959, it connects people working in chemistry and related fields while promoting science, education, sustainability, and professional development. The section is aligned with the mission of the American Chemical Society, a nonprofit scientific organization and professional home for chemists, chemical engineers, and others in the chemical enterprise.

ACS Brazosport offers local events, networking opportunities, volunteer activities, news, and resources related to chemical safety, education, and career development. Its programs bring together industry professionals, educators, students, and community members through public forums and science outreach. The section also supports young aspiring scientists and educators through recognition programs and scholarships, including opportunities for high school and community college students, as well as awards for chemical technicians, science teaching, and local-section volunteers. Events such as National Chemistry Week feature demonstrations, interactive activities, and opportunities to connect with local industry.
