## Description

The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) is the UK’s leading member-led professional body for traditional acupuncturists. Founded in 1995, it promotes high standards in acupuncture practice, education and professional conduct. BAcC members complete at least three years of degree-level training and follow the Council’s Codes of Professional Conduct and Safe Practice.

The BAcC is an Accredited Register recognised by the Professional Standards Authority, an independent organisation established by the UK Parliament to help protect the public. This accreditation supports confidence in the safety, competence and professionalism of its members, and the Council notes that it is trusted by major insurance providers and NHS employers.

The organisation helps the public find a quality acupuncturist and provides information about acupuncture, including FAQs and research evidence. It also offers guidance for healthcare professionals referring patients to traditional acupuncturists. For practitioners, the BAcC provides membership resources and services, professional standards and codes, events, news, publications and a practitioner community.
