ADBA, the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association, is a UK-based organization established in 2009. Our primary goal is to represent and support the development of the anaerobic digestion (AD) and bioresources industry in the country. With over 300 member organizations, including AD operators, equipment suppliers, finance specialists, farmers, academics, waste management companies, and gas distribution networks, we have built a diverse and robust network within the industry. Our focus lies in addressing the challenges posed by organic waste, such as food waste, sewage, agricultural wastes, and animal manures. By utilizing anaerobic digestion technology, we aim to extract maximum value from these resources. By converting them into green gas (biogas), bio-CO2, bio-fertilizers, and other valuable bio-products, we can significantly reduce the harmful methane emissions and overall greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. In fact, AD has the potential to reduce the country's total greenhouse gas emissions by at least 6%. ADBA provides a range of tools and resources for the industry, including a map of active AD plants in the UK, a database of active and planned AD plants, digestate analysis, market and policy reports, and guidance on sustainable bioenergy crops. We also offer certification services, operator support, training, and financial and insurance advice. Through our work, we strive to contribute to a safe and high-performing industry while addressing the pressing climate emergency and promoting sustainable farming and waste management practices.
