## Description

The Australian Alcohol and Other Drugs Council (AADC) is the national peak body dedicated to enhancing outcomes in the alcohol and other drugs sector. Established in 2017 and operational since 2020, AADC represents over 550 specialized health services, including a significant portion of non-government organizations receiving federal funding. The council's mission revolves around preventing and reducing harm related to alcohol and drug use, promoting a collaborative approach among its members, which includes treatment practitioners, researchers, and affected individuals and families.

AADC's comprehensive services encompass a wide array of treatment options, such as counseling, detoxification, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction strategies. The council is committed to building a strong evidence base to support effective practices and programs. AADC’s member organizations engage actively in advocacy and policy-making, contributing to innovation in the rural alcohol and drug sector and ensuring that those who need support have access to vital resources. Through ongoing collaboration and engagement, AADC aims to advance the health and wellbeing of communities across Australia.
