## Description

ADCR, the Associazione Difesa Cani Randagi, is a nonprofit animal-protection organization based in Gioia del Colle, Italy. Founded on December 2, 1991, it works to address stray animal welfare in the local area by protecting abandoned dogs, providing care, and helping them find suitable homes. Since 2003, ADCR has collaborated with the Gioia del Colle municipal shelter.

The association supports dogs through daily care, maintenance, microchipping, and the search for safe, lasting placements. It also promotes prevention through campaigns on sterilization, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of preventing abandonment. Its education projects and community initiatives encourage greater awareness and compassion toward animals.

ADCR helps prospective adopters make informed decisions, guiding them through an introductory conversation, a questionnaire, pre-adoption discussions, and follow-up after placement. The association also facilitates cat adoptions by connecting interested families with volunteers. People can contribute through shelter volunteering, sharing adoption appeals, fundraising, donations, or Italy’s 5×1000 tax allocation. Through these activities, ADCR aims to build responsible relationships between animals and families.
