Addameer – الضمير

Addameer, meaning conscience in Arabic, is a prominent Palestinian non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting Palestinian political prisoners held in Israeli and Palestinian prisons. Since its establishment in 1991 by human rights activists, Addameer has been instrumental in providing free legal aid to political prisoners and advocating for their rights at both national and international levels. Their comprehensive work focuses on ending torture and other violations of prisoners' rights through monitoring, legal procedures, and solidarity campaigns.

Addameer's programs include a Legal Aid Unit, which offers legal representation and advice to detainees, a Documentation and Research Unit that collects statistics and information on detainees, an Advocacy and Lobbying Unit that engages with the international community, and a Training and Awareness Unit that educates Palestinian lawyers and grassroots activists on human rights issues.
