## Description

The Association of Eastern Historical Societies Inc. (AEHS) is a membership organisation supporting local history groups in Melbourne’s eastern region. It brings together 25 historical societies and history groups, providing a forum for members to share knowledge, connect with peers and strengthen their work in preserving and exploring local history. The association meets four times a year at venues hosted by its member groups. Each meeting includes a guest speaker, offering educational value and opportunities to develop skills relevant to historical societies and local history. AEHS also holds a biennial conference, giving members a further opportunity to learn and engage with historical topics. Its activities include regular meetings and events, such as an annual general meeting hosted by a member society. The organisation provides information about membership, current members, upcoming events, conferences and links to other resources through its website. By fostering cooperation among local history groups, AEHS helps its members support one another and promote interest in the history of Melbourne’s eastern communities.
