## Description

AEILIJ, the Association of Writers and Illustrators of Children’s and Young Adult Literature, was founded in Rio de Janeiro in June 1999 by 50 text and image creators. It represents and supports authors and illustrators dedicated to literature for young readers, providing a nationwide space for dialogue, partnerships, creative freedom, and guidance for new writers and illustrators. The association advocates for authors’ rights and works to strengthen Brazilian children’s and young adult literature.

AEILIJ connects members and readers with information about its writers and illustrators, whose profiles feature selected work, biographies, photographs, and contact details. Its offerings include courses, publications, initiatives, and the AEILIJ Literature Award, alongside news and information about partnerships and support. The association’s annual yearbooks document books published by members, interviews, tributes, and activities; they are available free through ISSUU. AEILIJ also shares updates and resources through its blogs, Facebook pages and group, Instagram, and YouTube channel, helping bring together literary creators and audiences across Brazil.
