AEMS (Arts Education in Maryland Schools) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that every student in Maryland has access to high-quality arts education. They believe that arts education is a civil and human right, and their advocacy initiatives focus on addressing systemic issues, promoting educational equity, and ensuring access to arts education for all students. AEMS works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, school administrators, and policymakers to foster systemic change and close the opportunity gap.

AEMS is deeply committed to racial equity and anti-racism. They recognize the historical impact of educational policies on marginalized communities and strive to use arts education as a tool for creating systemic change. By investing in and supporting historically underserved communities, particularly Black, Indigenous, Latinx, immigrant, and Asian communities, AEMS aims to strengthen arts education access and quality with equitable strategies.

Founded in 1992, AEMS partners with the Maryland State Arts Council and the Maryland State Department of Education to advocate for cultural literacy, enhance childhood development, and create positive learning environments. As a volunteer-driven organization, AEMS relies on the support of the community to achieve its vision of a robust arts education experience for all Maryland students
