## Description

The Association pour l’Entretien des Monuments et Sépultures (A.E.M.S.) is a French nonprofit association dedicated to maintaining graves throughout France. Established under the French law of 1 July 1901, it has managed grave-care contracts since 1911. Its services help families who live far away, lack time, or want to arrange for the upkeep of a burial place after their death. A.E.M.S. offers cleaning and flower-arranging services, along with maintenance and repair work to help preserve graves and monuments. Clients can choose a fixed-term maintenance contract lasting five or ten years, which begins when the agreement is signed. For longer-term arrangements, the association offers a CCE contract, based on a consumable capital and an expiry term, taking effect immediately or upon the client’s death. The client selects the capital amount and the desired services and work; the contract’s duration depends on the capital deposited. A.E.M.S. also conducts regular inspections of graves under contract to check that services are properly carried out and identify any work needed to maintain the burial place.
