With a history linked to military aviation during the Second World War, the aerodrome also offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the American squadrons once based in the area and see a memorial featuring parts of a B-25 Mitchell bomber. The aerodrome has restricted-use, Category D approval. It primarily supports aviation training and air sports, including gliding, light aviation, helicopter activity, microlight flying and parachuting. Access for visiting aircraft is subject to a prior permission request (PPR), generally requiring 72 working hours’ notice and approval by the relevant authorities. Pilots can consult the site for PPR information and download the aerodrome’s visual approach chart. Fuel services include Avgas 100LL and Jet A1 for based aircraft.
