## Description

AESMO, the Asociación AESMO, is a Honduran organization dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainable development in ecologically important areas of the Trifinio Region. Through an innovative shared-governance model, it works with civil society organizations, cooperatives, private companies, individuals, municipal governments, Indigenous and local communities, and international partners. Its efforts support the long-term protection of water, biodiversity, and soil across more than 53,000 hectares. AESMO has acquired over 2,400 hectares for conservation, with the land belonging to Indigenous and local communities, which decide democratically how it is used, protected, and managed for present and future generations.

The organization’s programs include food security, watershed management, and protected-area conservation. Its work encompasses the Güisayote and Volcán Pacayita Biological Reserves, as well as the Río Hondo, El Espinal, Nueve Pozas, and Cerro Negro micro-watersheds. AESMO also shares information through publications and bulletins and invites supporters to contribute through donations. Based in San Marcos de Ocotepeque, Honduras, it promotes community-led stewardship of natural resources and the lasting conservation of watersheds and biodiversity.
