## Description

The Interdisciplinary Affective Science Laboratory (IASL) at Northeastern University is dedicated to advancing our understanding of emotions through cutting-edge research. Led by renowned psychologist Lisa Feldman Barrett, the laboratory employs a range of methodologies, including experiential studies, behavioral analysis, psychophysiological assessments, and brain-imaging techniques, to explore the complexities of emotions and their underlying mechanisms.

Located on the Northeastern University campus and at Mass General Hospital, IASL serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research, fostering collaboration among scientists, scholars, and students. The lab's innovative approach likens the construction of emotions to baking, emphasizing that just as distinct ingredients create baked goods, various experiential components contribute to emotional experiences.

The IASL not only aims to deepen scientific knowledge but also to engage the public through publications, media features, and participatory research opportunities. By bridging research and practice, the lab contributes significantly to the fields of psychology and neuroscience, making strides in how we understand and articulate emotional responses.
